William “Bill” Clyde Keel

William “Bill” Clyde Keel, 78, of Cuba, MO, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, peacefully in his home.

He was born on October 27, 1944, in East St. Louis, IL, to William Preston and Mary Abrego (nee Daniel) Keel. Bill was retired from the Norfolk Southern railroad, was a US Navy Vietnam Veteran, and a member of the Masons.

Bill’s favorite place in the world was at his camper, whether it was at Timber Trails, Carlyle Lake, or any of the State Parks. He loved to camp, fish, and spend time outdoors with his friends and family. He would also beat you in a game of Gin Rummy without breaking a sweat. Bill was a doting great-grandfather and loved any chance he could get to play with his great-grandchildren. He was a treasured father, Pa Pa, great-grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Preston and Mary Abrego Keel; brother, Henry Wayne Keel; sisters, Betty Jean Shaw, Mary Lee Keel-Ruggles; his first wife, Shirley Mae (nee Seidler) Keel; and an infant son.

Bill is survived by his wife, Georgina M (nee Becker) Keel; daughter, Laura Marie Grentz-Dolan; son-in-law, Steven Lee Dolan; granddaughter, Brittany Lynne Grentz; grandsons, Shaun Patrick Grentz, Joseph John Grentz; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Jon, Anna, Addie, Abel, Ollie, Arick; special friend, Joanne Chadwick; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.

Memorials may be made to the family for the funeral expenses.

Visitation: Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL, and Friday July 21, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.

Funeral Service: Friday, July 21, 2023, at 10:00 am, Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.

Clergy: Ron Habermehl

Interment: Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO
