Warren S. Waller, 88, of Highland, IL, passed away on the evening of Saturday, May 17, 2025, at HSHS St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL.
He was born on July 2, 1936, in Freeport, IL, to Everett and Alma (nee Eli) Waller. On February 4, 1961, he married Carolyn Sheetz.
Warren has lived in Highland since 1973, moving from Freeport, IL. He graduated from Hirsch High School in Chicago, IL, and got his Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University. After college, Warren went into the United States Army Reserves and did his medical technologist training at Freeport Memorial Hospital. When they moved to Highland, Warren worked at Utlaut Memorial Hospital in Greenville, then at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL, where he retired from in 1994.
Golfing was a passion of Warren’s. He enjoyed going to the course in Lebanon, IL, and later, Oakbrook Golf Course in Edwardsville, IL. Warren watched golf tournaments on TV often, as well as Cardinals games, and action movies. He took great pride in his yard, always out there puttering around mowing and weed eating. Warren was devoted to his family, enjoying grilling for them in his younger years. A good man with a kind heart, Warren will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Alma Waller and his brother, Everett S. Waller.
Warren is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Waller, Highland, IL; children, Stephen Waller, Highland, IL, Suzanne Waller, Troy, IL; and brother, Charles Waller, South Carolina.
Memorial donations may be made to Northern Illinois University Department of Biological Sciences.
