Violet L. Pado

Violet L. Pado, 90, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Eden Village Nursing Home in Glen Carbon, IL.

She was born on February 4, 1935, in Ventura, CA, to Lee and Agnes (nee Payten) Cobb. On February 2, 1957, she married the love of her life, John J. Pado, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Fairmont City, IL.

Born with a nurturing soul, Violet spent her life caring for those around her. In the 1960s, she opened her heart and home as a foster parent, providing a safe, loving space for numerous children. She especially cherished caring for babies, offering them comfort and unconditional love during their most vulnerable times.

Violet was a cherished member of the Collinsville community, where she proudly served in the Collinsville School District for many years. Affectionately known as "the lunch lady," she was a familiar and beloved presence in the school cafeteria. In addition to her work in the cafeteria, Violet also sold tickets for school sporting events, always eager to support local students and families.

Selfless to her core, Violet lived to help others, never hesitating to put the needs of others before her own. More than anything, Violet loved her family. She was an extraordinary wife, a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, John J. Pado; parents, Lee and Agnes Cobb; sons Matthew Pado, Timothy Pado; and her brothers and sisters.

Violet is survived by her children, John (Mary) Pado, III, Alison (Eric) Williams; grandchildren, Alyssa Weilmunster, Ashlee (Zach) Joiner, Nick (Jessica) Pado, Ricky (Jennifer) Pado, Jared (Christine) Baker, Brandy (Nathan) Boyer, Jason (Ashley) Baker; great-grandchildren, Emma Boyer, Hailey Boyer, Lily Baker, Savannah Baker, Jack Joiner, Harper Joiner, Kylie Pado, Wade Pado; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Madison County Humane Society, of VITAS Hospice.
