Todd Sands

Christopher “Todd” Sands, 45, of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at St. Vincent’s East Hospital, Trussville, AL.

Todd was born December 8, 1970 to Michael and Marlene (Nee Phelps) Sands, in Birmingham, AL.

He was a huge Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He was a 1989 graduate of Highland High School, where he lettered in Football and baseball.  Todd went to Jefferson State College and continued his baseball career.  He adored his niece and nephews, and they adored him.  He loved to fish and the outdoors in general.  He enjoyed painting and drawing.  Todd ran a children’s workshop at the Home Depot in Trussville, AL.  Roll Tide.

Todd is survived by his parents, Marlene (Jim) Huelsmann, Highland, IL, Mike (Wendy) Sands, Ashville, AL; grandmother, Clara Huelsmann; brother and sisters, Craig (Shelly) Sands, Highland, IL, Heather (Matt) Hulvey, Highland, IL, Jennifer (special friend, John Geiger) Huelsmann, Highland, IL; niece and nephews, Brendan Sands, Megan Sands, Connor Sands.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Visitation: Tuesday, March 15, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL and Wednesday, March 16, 2016, from 9:00 to 10:30 am at First Baptist Church, Highland, IL.

Funeral: Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church, Highland, IL.

Interment: Highland City Cemetery.
