Shirley B. Giovando, 90, of Collinsville, IL, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Liberty Village in Maryville, IL.
She was born on September 13, 1935, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Arthur and Frances (nee Hoffman) Waghorn. She married the love of her life, John Giovando, on January 1, 1952, in Arkansas.
Shirley was a devoted housewife and homemaker whose greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She filled her home with warmth, love, and the comforting traditions that brought everyone together. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, often babysitting them and always ready to lend a helping hand by running errands for her children whenever they needed her. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed simple pleasures such as trips to Shop ’n Save and Walgreens, and she especially enjoyed going out to eat at the Red Bar. After raising and caring for her beautiful family, Shirley continued her work at the Bischoff Horseradish Farm, Horseshoe Bar & Lounge, and Barewood Furniture Gallery.
Above all, Shirley was an incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
