Ronald "Ron" L. Carter

Ronald “Ron” L. Carter, 73, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025, at his home in Gillespie, IL.

He was born on September 27, 1951, in Oklahoma, to Ralph and Vera (nee England) Carter. In 1983 he married the love of his life, Donna Garloch.

Ron was a man whose life was defined by hard work and devotion to the people he loved. He never stopped moving, whether he was at one of his many jobs, tending to projects around the house, or offering a helping hand to friends and family.

In the rare moments he allowed himself time off, Ron enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing. These simple joys brought balance to his busy life and were often shared with those closest to him.

Above all else, Ron loved his family. He was a treasured husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His tireless work ethic, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always and missed deeply by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Vera Carter; brothers, Gary Carter, Don Carter, Ray Carter.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Donna Carter; children Tami (James) Collett, Pearl (Justin) Kilthau; stepchildren, Rachel (Paul) Birdnow, Derrek Woolsey; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, siblings, Kenneth Carter, Pat Daughtry; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

Visitation: Monday, August 4, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, in Collinsville, IL.

Interment: Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
