Roland G. “Bill” Stein

Roland G. “Bill” Stein, 82, of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Chesterfield, MO.

He was born September 6, 1931, to Fred and Augusta (Nee Niemeyer) Stein, in Choteau Island, IL.

Bill served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.  He worked at Alton Box Board, Highland, IL for more than 40 years.

He was a member of Highland Hope Lutheran Church and V F W Post 5694, Highland, IL.  He was a loving father to his daughter.  He enjoyed playing cards and golf.  He liked to watch the University of Illinois Illini basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

He is survived by 1 brother, Leroy “Butch” (Mary) Stein; 5 nephews, Dennis (Janis) Foehner, John (Sandra) Foehner, Terry (Theresa) Stein, Randy (Sara) Stein, Dave Stein.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Augusta Stein; his daughter, Sharon Stein; 2 sisters, Erma Stein in infancy, Mildred Foehner; 2 brothers, Harold and Wilbur Stein.

Visitation: Sunday, November 17, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Monday, November 18, 2013, from 8:00 to 10:00 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
