Rodney G. Eads, 85, of Highland, IL, died Thursday, December 30, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.

He was born August 19, 1925, to Otis and Myrtle (nee Davis) Eads, in Granite City, IL.  On January 19, 1947, he married Mertie D. “Dea” Moore, in Piggott, AR.

Rodney entered the Army during World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp. in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, and the American Theater.

Rodney worked at Union Electric, now Ameren, for more than 40 years in the Payroll Department.  He was a member of Chicago Kennel Club, Belle City Kennel Club, and very active in the National Organization.  He travelled for 10 years showing Bearded Collies.  He enjoyed gardening with his wife.

He is survived by: His Wife, Dea Eads, Highland, IL; 2 Children, Craig (Ann) Eads, Highland, IL, Donna (Fred) Hawker, Springfield, IL; 2 Grandchildren, Dr. Kimberly (Dr. Brian) Heimer, Dr. Nicholas (Mildred) Hawker; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Greyson Heimer, Bria Hawker.

He was preceded in death by: His Parents, Otis and Myrtle Eads; 1 Sister, Agnes Thebeau, 1 Niece, Benita Thebeau; 1 Nephew, Dale Lindsey.

Visitation: Sunday, January 2, 2011, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and Monday, January 3, 2011, 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

Funeral: Monday, January 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland.

Clergy: Rev. Bill Dempsey, Pastor, Family Bible Church, Highland, IL.

Interment: Monday, January 3, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
