                                                                          August 3, 1929 – December 22, 2025

We are saddened to announce Roberta Lucille (Rule) Hosselton, age 96, of Flora, Illinois, passed away at 6:00 am, December 22, 2025, at the Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Roberta was born on August 3, 1929, in Decker Township, Richland County, IL to Walter Franklin and Catherine (Gallagher), Rule of Noble, IL. In 1947 she graduated from Clay City High School. On July 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lindy L. Hosselton. They were married for 76 years.

Roberta served as a cook, bookkeeper, and administrative secretary at Lincoln Grade School for 25 years. She was also a charter member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Flora, IL where she was the bookkeeper for many years, as well as being active in the church by teaching Sunday school, Vacation bible school and singing in the choir. She was also a member of the Southern Baptist Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) for many years. Roberta and her husband Lindy loved traveling, visiting their grandchildren and sharing cooking tips and recipes with her granddaughters.

Roberta is survived by her two children and spouses, Deborah and Douglas Cosby, Jeff and Laura Hosselton; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Cosby) Fox, Noah Cosby, Rachel (Cosby) Leary, Nathan Hosselton, Natalie Hosselton, Olivia (Hosselton) Zdankiewicz, and Rebecca Hosselton; and nine great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 76 years, Lindy L Hosselton, her parents, her brother Robert Rule, and one great grandchild R.J. Fox.

Funeral services celebrating Roberta’s life will be held at the First Southern Baptist Church, 500 E. 12th St., Flora, IL, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with Pastor Joel Hackney officiating. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the funeral at 10:00 am, with funeral services following at 11:00 am. The burial will be in the Flora Garden of Memories near Flora. In loving memory of Roberta, memorials may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home, Carmi, IL. and will be accepted at the church on the day of the services or at the funeral home.
