Robert Lee Goodman

TSgt Robert L. Goodman, USAF, Ret, 84, of Lebanon, IL, died Monday, March 9, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Robert was born October 7, 1930, to Charlie and Emma “Sandy” (nee Benton) Goodman, in Locust Grove, GA. On October 5, 1954, he married Willie O. Smith in Atlanta, GA.

He retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service. He was a member of AM Vets, American Legion Lebanon. He was a former member of the Masons.

He loved making things with his hands. He loved to work in his yard and garden, especially growing watermelons.

He is survived by his wife, Willie O. Goodman, Lebanon, IL; 6 children, Roosevelt Smith, Lebanon, IL, Brenda Goodman, Decatur, GA, Paulette Scott, Decatur, GA, Linda (Earl) Hall, Swansea, IL, Bobby Goodman, Rapid City, SD, and Minda (Devin) Macintosh, Las Vegas, NV; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Annie Lois Smith, Chicago, IL, Mary Goodman Watts, Jackson, GA, Marian (John) Varner, Jackson, GA, and Louise (Clemmie) Adams, Jackson, GA; 1 brother, Thomas Goodman, from Jackson, GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Emma “Sandy” Goodman; 1 son, Robert Goodman, Jr.; 1 brother, Curtis Lee Goodman; 1 great grandchild, Juan Hall.

Visitation: Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL.
