Rhoda Tecomplah Warner, 31, of Lebanon, IL, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Portsmouth, VA.
She was born on December 25, 1993, in Liberia, to George Warner and Aletha (Pratt) Weatherall
Rhoda was a member of Kumler & Grace United Methodist Churches in Springfield, IL. She also was the Pastor at Alton Main St. Rhoda loved to preach, doing crafts, sewing, painting, gardening, writing poetry and meeting new people. She graduated from Springfield High School in 2012, then from McKendree University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Religion and Psychology. She then went to Duke University and graduated in 2019 with a Master of Divinity and Theology. Rhoda served at clergy at Glendale Heights Methodist in Durham, NC, Grace Community United Methodist in Bourbonnais, IL Hope UMC in Southfield, MI, Alton Main St. UMC at last! She took sick leave in March of 2025.
Being highly extroverted, she would light up a room with just her presence. Rhoda never met a stranger; she could talk to anybody from the time she was child. She knew she was going to be a Pastor since the age of 12, met people at the altar in church and would pray with them, led justice organizations all through High School & College, leader in student Government, President at McKendree University, she was never a follower. Rhoda was ahead of her time, pushed the Church beyond boundaries, phenomenal preacher. She came from a family of preachers, Mom, Dad, Brothers, Stepdad.
Some people are sent to be a light, and some people are the light, that’s Rhoda!
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, material & paternal.
Rhoda is survived by her parents, Rev. Aletha & Rev. Sylvester Weatherall, Lebanon, IL, Rev. George & Bleh Warner, Portsmouth, VA; sister, Blessen Pratt, Bloomington, IL; Step-Sister, Willie-Mae (Nelson) TX. brother, George Warner Jr; (NY) stepbrothers, Rev. Montonio Weatherall (Kim), Fairview Heights, IL, Rico (Beatrize) Weatherall, Arlington, VA, Cartavas Weatherall, Belleville, IL; Elkanah (GA). cousin/sister, Josephine C. (Joseph) Pratt, Chicago, IL, Izeya Lincoln,Veronica Pratt (IL). Cousin/brother Joseph Pratt Jr. (IL). Chicago, IL; host of aunties, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
Memorial donations may be made to Lebanon First United Methodist or McKendree University Food Pantry.
Visitation: Friday, December 5, 2025, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at First United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL.
Service: Saturday, December 6, 2025, 11:30 am, at First United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL.
Interment: College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.
