With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rebecca Dulaney Wyatt, Sunday, May 17, 2026 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Alta Dulaney of Xenia, and her sister, Janet Herman of Xenia.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family more than anything. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with those she loved, and she made each person feel special, supported, and deeply cared for.

Rebecca had a true passion for teaching. She devoted nearly 30 years to education, serving as a teacher, Reading Recovery specialist, and literacy consultant in both Illinois and Indiana. She began her career teaching first and third grade before finding her calling as a Reading Recovery specialist, helping countless children learn to read and believe in themselves. She also spent much of her career mentoring and training other educators. Rebecca had a gift for patience, kindness, and encouragement, and her impact will be felt for generations.

For many years, Rebecca lived with rheumatoid arthritis, facing it with strength and resilience. We find comfort in knowing she is now at peace and free from pain.

She is survived by her children: Kathy (Tom) Underman of Columbus, Ohio; Michael (Ann) Wyatt of Momence, Illinois; Tim (Robin) Wyatt of Greencastle, Indiana; and Deborah Wyatt of Indianapolis, Indiana; her brother, Tom (Lisa) Dulaney; and her brother-in-law, Frank Herman, both of Xenia, Illinois.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Cody (Sydney) Wyatt, Chase (Tressa) Wyatt, Caitlin (Eric) Hale, Logan (Hannah) Wyatt, Justin Underman, and Jacqueline Underman; and her beloved great-grandchildren: Josie, Asher, Weston, Dawson, and Scottie Wyatt, with two more blessings expected in July and November.

She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Family was everything to Rebecca. She built a life centered on love, connection, and unwavering support, and that legacy will live on in each of us.

Rebecca often said, “With God, all things are possible,” a reflection of the faith that guided her life and carried her through both joyful and difficult times.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
