Raymond R. Rauscher

Raymond R. Rauscher, 77, of Highland, IL, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.

Ray was born January 28, 1937, to Lester A. and Elsie F. (Nee Hahn) Rauscher, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.  On June 20, 1959 he married Hazel Bauer, at the then, E & R Church, Highland, IL.

He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL, Masons and American Legion.  He loved to camp, fish, hunt, an all around outdoorsman.  He loved his family and his dogs.  He never met a stranger.

Ray is survived by his wife, Hazel Rauscher, Highland, IL; 3 children, Mindy (Greg) Stoff, Highland, IL, Debbie McNeilly, Highland, IL, Chad Rauscher, Highland, IL; former son-in-law, Robert (Lisa) Gerner; 3 grandchildren, Nicole & Alex Stoff, Matthew McNeilly; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Elsie Rauscher; 1 daughter, Connie Gerner; step-grandson, Christopher McNeilly; 2 brothers, Lester and Richard Rauscher.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Shriners Hospital for Children.

Visitation: Monday, July 21, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL, and Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.

Funeral: Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 11:00 am at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.
