Peggy J. Gabriel

Peggy J. Gabriel, 82, of St. Jacob, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Edwardsville Nursing and Rehab, in Edwardsville, IL.

She was born on May 29, 1943, in Vulcan, MO, to Herbert and Leona (nee Adams) Miller.

Peggy was a devoted woman of faith whose life was firmly rooted in God and family. Her love for the Lord guided every part of her life, and she faithfully instilled strong morals and the teachings of God’s Word in her children. Peggy believed deeply in living with purpose, kindness, and unwavering faith, values she passed on to generations of her family.

She adored her family beyond measure and took great joy in being a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Time spent with her loved ones was her greatest treasure, and her legacy of love will continue through them.

In her free time, Peggy enjoyed staying active at the YMCA, spending peaceful days camping and fishing outdoors, and making trips to the casino for fun and laughter. She was also a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and rarely missed the chance to cheer them on.

Peggy will be remembered for her strong faith, her nurturing spirit, and the deep love she had for her family. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished always.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Leona Miller; loving husband, Frank Gabriel; siblings, Sonny Miller, Lois Counts, Betty Summers.

Peggy is survived by her children, Frank (Candy) Gabriel, Jr., Trina (Bret) Mantia, David Gabriel, Darren (Beth) Gabriel, Phyllis (Charlie Votava) Gabriel, Dennis Gabriel, Jeff Gabriel; siblings, Alice (Ed) Textor, Glen (Monica) Miller, Rita (Charlie) Dahmm, Sandi Smith, Sue Matchell, Darlene (Steve) Conner, Chris (Lisa) Miller; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Monday, January 12, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, at Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.
