Paul C. Mitchell, 94, of Cisne, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2026.
Paul was born on February 28, 1932, in Lewistown, Montana, Paul lived a life of honor, service, and love for his family. He proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy and was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Paul enjoyed golfing, playing a mean game of pool, and spending time with his family. He especially loved children and was known for carrying Hot Wheels cars to hand out, bringing smiles wherever he went.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mona Mitchell; his daughters, Michele Van der Noort and husband Ben, and Melissa Ortiz and husband George; his son, Mark Mitchell; his stepsons, Richard Bryan and wife Jennifer, and Bradley Bryan; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Frances, and Josephine; and his brothers, Jim, Kenneth, Basil, Fred, Dudley, Clarence, Eugene, and Harold.
Paul will be remembered for his quiet kindness, generous heart, faithful service to his country, and the love he shared with everyone who is fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched.
Visitation: Friday, July 3, 2026 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne, IL.
Funeral Service: Friday, July 3, 2026 at 12:00pm at the funeral home.
Burial: Will follow in Brown Cemetery near Mt. Erie, IL.
Military Honors will be conducted by Anthony Wayne Post 176 American Legion in Fairfield, IL and Wayne Memorial Post 4535 in Fairfield, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to the VFW in Fairfield, IL and will be accepted at the funeral home
