Patricia Rose Switzer

Patricia Rose Switzer, 92, of Highland, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL.

She was born on October 27, 1933, in East St. Louis, IL, to Luke and Rose (nee Putz) Schutzenhofer. On July 11, 1953, she married Joseph “Joe” Switzer in East St. Louis, IL.

Patricia was a member at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL. Christmas was her favorite day of the year. She was a mother of 6 children, always followed her kids and grandkids events. She was active in the church in her younger years and Chairman of the Holy Angels Church picnics. Patricia was an avid card club and bingo player and enjoyed bowling. Loved to be around her children and grandchildren playing poker and euchre.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Rose Schutzenhofer; husband, Joseph Switzer; son, Ricky Switzer; grandson, Adam Haselhorst, in infancy; sister, Shirley Cygan; brother-in-law, Jack Cygan; sister-in-law, Karen Schutzenhofer, nephew, Timmy Schutzenhofer.

Patricia is survived by her children, Susie (Bob) Wurth, Highland, IL, Lynnie (Stan) Haselhorst, Trenton, IL, Joey (Peggy) Switzer, Highland, IL, Patty “Kay” (Ed) Winet, Highland, IL, Tommy (Kris) Switzer, Highland, IL; daughter in law, Stephanie Switzer, Kansas City, MO; brother, Luke Schutzenhofer, Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Amy (Ben) Thole, Bobbi (Chad) Wernle, Billy Haselhorst, Jacob (Tiffany) Haselhorst, Kim (Brandon) Flowers, Joey (Ashley) Switzer, Jessie (Shane) Cope, Jimmy (Sarah) Winet, Wendy (John) Hipskind, Kallie (Grant) Beavers, Eden Switzer, Abbie (Buster) Hendricks, Chelsie (Luke) Voss, Jessica Wilson, Brooke Wilson; great grandchildren, Reid & Rylee Thole, Cruz & Jaxx Wernle, Chase, Brenna, Briggs Haselhorst, Audrey & Bradley Flowers, Sloan & Zara Switzer, Lucy & Grace Cope, Bayley Johnson, Luke & Claire Winet, Hayley & Hadley Hipskind, Lyla Beavers, Cameron, Maddex, Axten Hendricks, Olivia & Lainie Voss; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
