Patricia A. “Pat” Frey

Patricia A. “Pat” Frey, 71, of Highland, IL, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at St. Louis University Hospital.

She was born on April 13, 1951, in Maquoketa, IA, to Peter L. “Vern” and Betty J. (nee Roubinek) Denahy. On May 11, 1973, Pat married the love of her life, Lonnie C. Frey, at St. Paul Catholic Church, in Highland, IL.

Pat worked for St. Louis University Hospital for 13 years. After her husband Lonnie passed away, she took over Kelcor Trucking as the owner and president for another 14 years until her retirement in January of 2022.

Pat had a passion for classic cars and racing. She also liked watching various TV shows and classic movies, taking road trips, or just a good drive to pass the time. Often, you could find her out and about, having dinner and drinks with friends and family. A lover of animals, Pat had three cats whom she adored. She enjoyed life and was a very caring person; doing anything she could to help anyone in need.

A family-oriented woman; her children and grandchildren were her proudest accomplishments. Over the years, Pat gained many “adopted children”, becoming another mother, to many friends of her kids. A loving and kind soul, Pat will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie C. Frey; parents, Peter L. “Vern” and Betty J. Denahy.

Pat is survived by her children, Corey (Edie) Frey, Kelley (Kyle Latempt) Frey; grandchildren, Lucas Frey, Leah Frey; sister, Barbara Schmitt; and sister-in-law, Mary Frey.

Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital or St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Memorial Visitation: Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

Celebration of Life Service: Sunday, October 9, 2022, 12:00 pm, at Knights of Columbus Hall, Highland, IL., with luncheon to follow.
