Norma E. Haberer

Norma E. (nee Lorenz) Haberer, 80, of Highland, Illinois, died Monday, October 24, 2016, at her residence.

Norma was born October 29, 1935, to John and Albertina (nee Halder) Lorenz in Highland, IL. On January 8 1955, she married Wesley Haberer at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.

She was a member of EVUCC in Highland, IL, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She looked forward to going to the Lake of the Ozarks every year with the “Girls.” Norma was an Election Judge for more than 40 years. She played or coached 40 and over softball league for more than 20 years, and bowled for many years in different leagues in Highland. And, she enjoyed working with her flowers in her garden.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Wes Haberer, Highland; children, Keith (Christy) Haberer, Highland, IL, Connie (Frank) Michaelis, Highland, IL, Lisa (Jeff) Pourchot, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Shandela (Bill) Anderson, Joseph S. (Tricia) Stock, Benjamin J. (Kim) Haberer, Jennifer (Ned) Kampwerth, Kaden Pourchot; and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John (Oct 24, 1970) and Albertina (Aug 10, 1979) Lorenz.

Memorials may be made to the Highland Animal Shelter or Donor’s Choice.

Visitation: Wednesday, October 26, 2016, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 12:00 pm, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ.
