Morris L. “Spike” Seefeldt, 88, of Highland, IL, died Friday, February 8, 2013, at his residence, with his family by his side.

Spike was born August 12, 1924, to Louis John and Carolyn (Nee Ostendorf) Seefeldt, in Addieville, IL. On October 28, 1948 he married Marian A. Heim, in Highland, IL.

Spike was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, Highland Knights of Columbus – Life Member, V F W and 101st Airborn Association – Life Member. He served in the U S Army 101st Airborn Division during WWII. He worked for Gentemann Chevrolet for over 30 years, the last 2 of which were for Schmitt Chevrolet. He was also a part-time member of Highland Police Department and a Madison County Honorary Deputy Sherriff.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Beverly (Robert) Quade, Highland, IL, Pamela (Robert) Benda, II, Littleton, CO; 3 sons, Steven (Tammy) Seefeldt, Troy, IL, David Seefeldt, Highland, IL, Jon (Cheryl) Seefeldt, St. Louis, MO; 9 grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Suever, Lori Huelsmann, Brooke Quade, Christy (Brent) Jacober, Robert (Krissy) Benda, III, Victoria (Andrew) Butler, Michael (Jen) Seefeldt, Catherine Seefeldt, Dustin Seefeldt; 6 step-grandchildren, Brandy (Mark) Gaddis, Brady (Katie) Quade, Barry (Kelsey) Quade, Brittany (Allen) Weder, Shana (Tim) Bing; 10 great-grandchildren, Joshua Suever, Jenaye Suever, Austin Huelsmann, Sierra Huelsmann, Cody Jacober, Paige Jacober, Joey Seefeldt, Anna Seefeldt, Robert “Joey” Benda, IV, Jaxson Benda; 10 step-great-grandchildren, Blake Gaddis, Mason Gaddis, Lydia Gaddis, Hailey Quade, James Quade, Sheldon Quade, Lucas Weder, Bryson Bing, Beatrice Bing, Vivian Quinn; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Carolyn Seefeldt; his wife, Marian Seefeldt; 1 brother, Omer Seefeldt; 1 sister, Esther Hoepker; 1 step-grandchild, Sean Quinn.

Memorials may be made to Masses, St. Louis University Research or Meals on Wheels.

Visitation: Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church.
