Millard Joseph “Joe” Vastine

Millard Joseph “Joe” Vastine, 86, of Lebanon, IL, died Friday, January 17, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Joe was born December 10, 1927; to Millard Winfield and Lena (Nee Ihle) Vastine; in Murphysboro, IL.  In 1958 he married Patricia A. Baldwin, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, St. Louis, MO.

He was a member of Lebanon Garden Club and St. Clair County Historical Society.  He was active in the Mermaid House activities in Lebanon, IL.  He was also a member of VFW and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Vastine, Lebanon, IL; children, Jeffrey Vastine, Maryville, IL, Julia Vaughn, Belleville, IL, Katherine Scheller, Troy, IL; 3 grandchildren, Mitchell Scheller, Hannah and Abigail Causey; 1 sister, Mary Edna Jones, Murphysboro, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Winfield and Lena Vastine; 1 daughter, Laura Causey; 1 sister, Virginia Stokes.

Memorials may be made to Prostate Cancer Fund or Mermaid House, Lebanon, IL.

Memorial Visitation: Saturday, January 25, 2014, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL.

Memorial Service: Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL.

Interment: At a later date.
