Michelle R. Higdon, 51, of Collinsville, IL, passed away November 5, 2026, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
She was born on January 29, 1975, in Kankakee, IL, to Micheal and Patricia (nee Tucker) DeLisle. On July 17, 1998, she married the love of her life, Dominic Higdon.
Michelle was a loving and talented woman who embraced life with an adventurous spirit and found joy in both the little things and life's greatest moments. She loved to travel, especially going on cruises and making wonderful memories along the way. She enjoyed shopping and had a special talent for couponing and finding the best deals. Michelle loved spending time outdoors, whether she was tending to her garden, camping, or, most of all, enjoying a peaceful day of fishing. She also loved visiting the casino and looked forward to her Tuesday bingo games whenever she had the chance. A gifted baker, Michelle shared her creativity through the beautiful cakes she decorated professionally. She was also incredibly handy and enjoyed building, fixing things, and tackling home improvement projects. There seemed to be little she couldn't do when she put her mind to it.
Above all else, Michelle had a heart full of love for her family. Nothing meant more to her than her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. They were her greatest pride and joy, and the love she had for each of them was immeasurable. Whether sharing an adventure, celebrating a special occasion, or simply spending time together, Michelle treasured every moment with those she held dear. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, a legacy of love, and a special place in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Esther Tucker and William Goode; paternal grandparents, Dorothy and William DeLisle; brother, Nicholas DeLisle; father-in-law, Wesley A. Pracht.
Michelle is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Dominic Higdon; parents, Patricia and Micheal DeLisle; children, Jacob DeLisle, Mikayla DeLisle, James Higdon, Jr.; grandchildren, Nevaeh DeLisle, Grayson Mumford; siblings, Tricia (Christopher) Fries, Micheal (Michelle) DeLisle; nieces and nephews, Jason (Alyssa) Campbell, Joseph (Maggie Sumner) Campbell, Kelsey DeLisle, Addison DeLisle, Jared (Alyssa) Burch, Colin Burch; great-nieces and great-nephews, Noah Campbell, Olivia Campbell, Chase Burch; aunts and uncles, Carla DeLisle, George DeLisle, Ronnie DeLisle, Karen Anderson, LouAnn Colson, Shirley Jordan, Kathleen Van Stratton; mother-in-law, Mary Pracht; brother-in-law, Terry Higdon; sister-in-law, Angela Higdon; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving friends.
