Melvin Niehaus, 93, of Troy, IL, died Monday, July 6, 2015, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.
Melvin was born September 3, 1921, to Arnold and Ella (nee Noeltner) Niehaus in Troy, IL. On February 20, 1954, he married Marian Knebel at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, Helvetia Sharpshooters, and Madison County Farm Bureau. He loved to farm and did it his entire life. He also loved to talk to everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Niehaus, Troy, IL; his son, John (Dana) Niehaus, Troy, IL; 3 grandchildren, Allisen Niehaus, Aaren Niehaus, and Austen Niehaus; 2 sisters, Arline Fohne, O’Fallon, IL, and Bernice (Leonard) Dickerson, Collinsville, IL; 1 sister-in-law, Henrietta Knebel, Trenton, IL; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Ella Niehaus; 3 sisters, Lorine Tonnies, Marcella Heim, and Bernadine Poletti.

Visitation: Friday, July 10, 2015, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, July 11, 2015, from 8:00 to 9:30 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
