Marvin L. McIntyre, Sr., 84, from Sparta, IL, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
He grew up on the farm learning to fix all the things he broke, which were many. After three years in the US Army, he found work at the railroad at what is now the CSX Rose Lake Yard for 38 years. He once joked that he worked for four railroad companies without ever changing offices.
He was an avid outdoorsman enjoyed travelling and was a pilot. His love of flying and travelling made for some wonderful memories. After retiring he became an active member of the Maryville Town & Country Gun Club. He also fixed anything with an engine and many things that did not.
He is preceded in death by parents, Albert and Mildred (nee Ledbetter) McIntyre; siblings, Edith Buchanan, Byron McIntyre, Janice Martin, Jerry McIntyre; grandchild, Berry Trotter.
Marvin is survived by children, Deana Brueggeman, Marvin McIntyre, Jr.; grandchildren, Gregory Coleman, Gerard Trotter, Brooke Flowers, Kelly Rawlings, Shanna Gidcumb, Abby McIntyre; great-grandchildren, Tamara Coleman, William Coleman, Eden Flowers, Lucy Gidcumb, Piper Gidcumb; siblings Alberta Buchanan, Lucy McIntyre; nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
Loving and special thanks to Cedarhurst of Troy, IL (now Charter Senior Living), where Marvin lived for a while and made many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Park Foundation.
