Marilyn “Kay” Mason, 83, of Wadesville, Indiana passed away on February 8, 2026 at Heart to Heart Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.
Kay was born in Olney, Illinois on June 28, 1942 to Loren M. and Pluma (Smith) Litherland. She married Robert L. “Bob” Mason in 1961. They spent many happy years together and were active in Edwards County and the surrounding communities. Bob and Kay owned McLean Implement, John Deere dealerships. Kay was a licensed beautician. She was a member of the West Salem First Christian Church and the Poseyville Christian Church. Her Faith was her guiding light. Along with her dear friend, Jim Hamilton, together they prayed for those in need, daily.
Kay unconditionally loved her family. She loved her flowers and flower beds, making all occasion greeting cards and music, her favorite being Christian music. She also enjoyed travelling, visiting with friends, and going out for ice cream. She and Bob enjoyed being involved in the Miss Illinois Pageant system and meeting many special people over the years. She loved to travel, with family and friends, and going to horse shows with Mindy. Kay was always happy and had a supportive personality. She was excited to build a campground with Mike and Mindy (Grayville I-64 KOA Holiday) and loved sitting on the porch greeting people. It was their vision, inspired by Bob, to do something for the community. Her love of people and life was apparent in all she did, and in all she served, with a love for the Lord at the center of it all. Kays favorite sayings, “I am so blessed”, “This too shall pass”, “We’re going to eat this elephant 1 bite at a time”, “Getter done”, “Everything is subject to change”.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Melinda “Mindy” (Micheal) Clark; grandchildren Casey Marie (Joe) Hillenbrand and Robert Micheal (Sam) Clark, and three great grandchildren, Evan Michael, Emilia Jo and Pluma Elyce. Two sisters, Patricia Ann Mitchell and Shirley Jean Watkins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert L. “Bob” Mason; and a son, Marc Evan Mason.
Visitation for Kay Mason will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of West Salem, Illinois. Funeral Service will follow at the church at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem, Illinois.
