Luisa Maria Rodriguez

Luisa Maria Rodriguez, 95, of Maryville, IL, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

She was born January 8, 1931, in Panama City, Panama, to Everardo and Ofelina (nee Guevara) Velarde. She married the love of her life, Dr. Guillermo Rodriguez, Sr., on December 24, 1955, in Panamá.

Luisa was a woman deeply rooted in her faith, and her life reflected her dedication to both her church and those around her. She was an active member of her parish and gave generously of her time through her involvement with the Women’s International Club. She also volunteered faithfully at Mother of Perpetual Help, St. Boniface Catholic Church, and the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, where her compassion and servant’s heart touched many lives.

She found great joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. Luisa loved creating stunning flower arrangements, cooking delicious meals for those she loved, decorating with care, and dressing up with elegance and grace. She had a gift for making every occasion feel special and every person feel valued.

Above all, Luisa’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a deeply cherished great-grandmother. Her eyes would light up in the presence of her great-grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart. Her love, wisdom, and warmth will live on in each of them.

Luisa is preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Dr. Guillermo Rodriguez, Sr.; parents, Everardo and Ofelina Velarde; brothers, Everardo Velarde, Jr., Angel Velarde.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Guillermo (Ramona) Rodriguez, Jr., Juan Rodriguez, Marianeila (Bron) Rodriguez-Olsen; grandchildren, Monica (Mark) Brackman, Phillip A. (Cami) Rodriguez, Bill Rodriguez, John E. Rodriguez, Niko Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Mather Brackman, Margaret Brackman, Mabel Brackman, Noelle Rodriguez, Dennis Rodriguez, McKenzie Rodriguez; sister Jessica Buchana; step-nephew Patrick Buchana; great-step-nephews, Reed, Luke, Flynn; great-step-niece, Bellamy; and many other family members both in the USA and Panamá

Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church.
