Linda R. Thompson

Linda R. Thompson, 78, of Highland, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on June 11, 1948, in Hoven, SD, to Noman and Evelyn (nee Dean) Anderson. On October 28, 1966, she married Douglas Thompson in Lowery, SD.

Linda attended Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL. She enjoyed Mexican food, playing cards and fishing. Linda was a social person and enjoyed talking with people. Her faith was important to her; she spent a lot of time studying the bible. Linda loved spending time with her family and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Evelyn Anderson; brothers, Martin, Robert, Gene and Barry Anderson.

Linda is survived by her husband Doug Thompson of Highland, IL; children, Lynette (Tony) White, Winfield, MO, Melanie (Darin) O’Connell, Highland, IL; sister, Noreen Hanzel, Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Adam (Kelsey) Feise, Lauren (Bryan) Skelton, Danielle (Elay) Videmschek, Brett O’Connell; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
