Lawrence Ray Michels

Lawrence Ray Michels, 82, of Ellery, IL passed away on August 24, 2025 at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi, IL.

Lawrence was born in Golden Gate, IL on September 19, 1942 to Vernon and Genevieve (Cowling) Michels.

Lawrence married Patricia “Patsy” Bunting on September 22, 1962. He loved his family, his wife, his three boys and grandkids. He was a man who had great faith in God, attending Bethel Church in Ellery, IL. He was a hard worker who loved farming, raising hogs and cattle. He loved the people in the Ellery community and found enjoyment helping his neighbors when they were in need. He was a good man. Lawrence will be remembered and deeply missed by all those who knew him, and by his loved ones.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Patricia; his sons Gerald (Michele) Michels, Rodney (Denise) Michels, and Marcus Michels. Also surviving are four adored grandchildren, Dalton, Hayli, Faith and Noah. A sister, Debera Kleinschmidt also survives.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his mother Genevieve and father Vernon; and a sister, Lurene Connor.

Graveside services for Lawrence Michels will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Cemetery in Ellery, IL. Please go directly to the cemetery for the service.
