Joyce R. Horner

Joyce R. Horner (nee Mezo), 73, of Pocahontas, IL, died Monday, December 16, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.

Joyce was born November 4, 1940, to Lloyd and Lucy (nee Taylor) Mezo.  On April 14, 1956, she married Charles R. Horner in E. St. Louis, IL.

She was a former member of the Park Club in Pocahontas, IL.  She was a hairdresser and owned her own shop.  She worked at the nursing home styling hair.  She was also a huge race fan, especially Dale Jarrett, and would go to Highland Speedway whenever she could.  She loved to collect owls and watch the Dallas Cowboys.

She is survived by her four children, Richard W. Horner, Highland, IL, Cathy (Carl) Simmons, Mocksville, N.C., Randy Horner, Alhambra, IL, Bryan “Mooch” (Beth) Horner, Pocahontas; 6 grandchildren, Austin, Ryan, Katie, Eric (Trudy), Travis, & Kelsey (Nathan); 3 great grandchildren, Brandon, Brook, Blake; 1 sister, Brenda (Ray) Mullins; 3 nephews, Bryce Mezo & Family, Jeff (Jan) Mezo & Family, Andy (Nicole) Mullins & Family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lucy Mezo; her husband, Charles R. Horner; 1 brother, Bud Mezo.
