Joetta G. Korte

Joetta G. Korte, 96, of Pierron, IL, died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Highland Health Care Center, Highland, IL.

Joetta was born October 3, 1920 to Theodore and Josephine (Nee Hellmann) Kruep, in St. Rose, IL. On November 13, 1940, she married Henry Korte who preceded her in death on November 9, 1957.

She was one of the most unselfish people, always taking care of other people before herself. She taught PSR and RCIA, she was a member of Daughters of Isabella, and an officer of St. Mary’s Altar Sodality. Joetta would cook meals for the Priests at Immaculate Conception. She helped with chicken dinners and funeral lunches at the Church and she worked at PIC for many years. She received the Paul Harris Fellow award from Rotary International and the Women of Distinction award from the Diocese of Springfield, IL.

After the death of her husband, she continued farming for 7 years, with the help of her children. She did catering for weddings and she ran Bert’s Chuck Wagon. Joetta worked for Basler Electric for 15 years, she worked at Plocher Farms raising hogs and Plocher Construction making lunches. She enjoyed quilting and gardening and being with her family, especially the babies. She was Grandma Joetta.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Josephine Kruep; daughter, Kathleen Baudino; son, John Korte; grandson, Russell Korte; brothers, Leonard Kruep, Alfred Kruep, Ted Kruep (twin to Joetta), Vincent Kruep, John Kruep in childhood, Francis Kruep; sisters, Annie Henrichs, Josephine Kohlbrecher, Leona Rensing; sons-in-law, Dr. Michael Diesen, Bob Baudino.

Joetta is survived by her children, Henry (Gerry) Korte, Pierron, IL, Charles (Jeannie) Korte, Pocahontas, IL, Dolores Diesen, Highland, IL, Dennis (Mary) Korte, Pocahontas, IL, Kenneth (Clara) Korte, San Antonio, TX, Jane (Gene) Plocher, Highland, IL, Joyce (Julian)Thomas, McComb, OH, Ray (Lori) Korte, Paris, IL; 24 grandchildren, Brian, Brenda, Sharla, Randy, Lori, Kevin, Kurt, Ken, Jeff, Michelle, Tina, Matt, Sherri, Jim, Scott, Karen, Lisa, Craig, Nathan, Christie, Rosanne, Brad, Derrick, Katie; 52 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Carol Korte; sisters-in-law, Margie Kruep, Fairview Heights, IL, Jane Kruep, O’Fallon, IL, May Frisse, Highland, IL, Sister Mary Clare Korte, Milwaukee, WI.

Memorials may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The American Cancer Society.

Visitation: Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday, December 19, 2016 from 8:00 to 9:00 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, December 19, 2016 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Pierron, IL.
