Joan Dickshot

Joan Dickshot, 76, of Highland, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

She was born on February 14, 1949, in Highland, IL, to Leo and Lois (nee Mollet) Goestenkors. On July 24, 1971, she married Curtis “Skip” Dickshot in Pocahontas, IL.

Joan was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Grantfork, IL, belonged to the Altar Society and United for Others. She grew up on the family farm in Pocahontas. As the owner of Joan’s Beauty Corner in Grantfork, IL, for over 50 years, she got to spend her days fixing hair and making lifelong friends. Joan was very social. Family was her life, she always attended all her grandchildren’s events and enjoyed time with all her family. Another of her passions was flowers, both inside and outside, along with doing yardwork. Joan loved her movie nights with her sisters, spending time with friends, and enjoyed driving around and dancing with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lois Goestenkors; husband, Curtis “Skip” Dickshot; sister, Leann Goestenkors, in infancy; brother in laws, William Dickshot and Vince Igoe.

Joan is survived by her children, Chris (Kim) Dickshot, Aviston, IL and Jodi (Brad) Neumann, Grantfork, IL; siblings, Pat (Burnell) Landmann, Pocahontas, IL, Jim (Kathy) Goestenkors, Pocahontas, IL, Tom (Bonnie) Goestenkors, Pocahontas, IL, Susie (Bryan) Kovach, Pocahontas, IL; In laws, Cheryl Igoe, Indian Wells, CA, John (Kris) Dickshot, Glen Carbon, IL; grandchildren, Ethan and Cody Dickshot, Chloe and Clayton Neumann; several Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Gertrude Cemetery or Grantfork Fire Department.

Visitation: Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday, January 16, 2026, from 8:00 am to 9:20 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, January 16, 2026, 10:00 am, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Grantfork, IL.

Interment: St. Gertrude Cemetery, Grantfork, IL.
