Jean M. Young

Jean M. Young, 87, of Highland, IL, passed away, Friday, December 31, 2021 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland.

She was born August 17, 1934 to Marian M. Schmidt, in St. Louis, MO.

Jean was a lifelong Highland resident and a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ.  She worked at KSDK as a secretary, and then worked at Bruegge Furniture for many years.  She loved to cook, play cards, and play BINGO.  Jean was one of the funniest ladies, always carrying around Jokes to tell people.  She loved to make people laugh and enjoyed having a good time.  She loved to dance and listen to music; and was a great singer.   Jean loved spending time with her family and was a wonderful storyteller.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Jean is survived by her children Kim Zinke, Brooklyn, NY, Roger (Lisa) Young, Highland, IL, and Jennay (fiance’ Tim Rakers) Wieter, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Alex Young, Allison Young, Logan Wieter and Jessie Wieter; siblings, Marilyn Fickbohm and Richard (Kathie) Essenpreis both of Highland, IL; many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
