Jean L. Hess

Jean L. Hess, 90, of Marine, IL, died Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.

Jean was born on May 16, 1926, to Charles and Amy (nee Gottenstraeter) Vogelbacher in Highland, IL. On June 1, 1946, she married Kenneth “Boots” Hess at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marine, IL.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She loved having kids and grandkids over to swim, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed cooking and playing cards.

She is survived by her son, John (Sandy) Hess, Marine, IL; grandchildren, Tim (Shelley) Hess, Marine, IL, and Holly (Jon) Mueller, Marine, IL; great grandchildren; Carson, Hayden, Delaney Hess, and Jake, Cole, Luke Mueller; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Amy Vogelbacher; husband, Kenneth “Boots” Hess. Memorials may be made for Masses or Donor’s Choice.

Visitation: Tuesday, June 14, 2016, from 9:30 to 10:00 am, at St Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marine, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 10:00 am, St Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marine, IL.
