James J. Scholl

James J. Scholl, 68, of Highland, IL, died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Relais Bonne Eau, Edwardsville, IL, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born January 11, 1945, to John “Jack” and Ruhenna “Gerley” (Nee Klaus) Scholl, in Highland, IL.  On September 18, 1965 he married Nancy Kirchhoff at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.  He was a meat cutter for 42 years, working at Tom Boy and then Tru Buy in Highland.  He served in the U S Army during the Vietnam War stationed in Germany.

Since retiring in 2007, he began his mornings at McDonald’s with the “Coffee Crew”.  He enjoyed trout fishing and traveling around the country with his wife.  He loved the game of golf; whether it was playing at Highland Country Club, making and repairing clubs or watching it on TV.  He was a very proud Grandpa who loved spending time with his grandkids, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Scholl, Highland, IL; 1 daughter, Jessica (Steve) Duft, Highland, IL; 3 grandchildren, Aiden, Dylan and Jackson Duft; 1 brother, Neal (Marlene) Scholl; 1 sister, Deborah Averhart; step-brother, Kenneth (Sandra) Duft; step-sister-in-law, Jane Duft; his mother-in-law, Eileen Kirchhoff-Luitjohan; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Jenifer Scholl (February 4, 1989); his father, Jack Scholl (1959); his mother, Gerley Scholl-Duft (1980); step-father, Delmar Duft (1979); step-brother, Curtis Duft (2001).

Memorials may be made to Relais Bonne Eau or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Visitation: Sunday, June 2, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday, June 3, 2013, from 8:00 to 9:30 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, June 3, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.
