Henry Halverson, 83, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2024, peacefully at his home in Collinsville, IL.
He was born on November 15, 1942, in Elmwood Park, IL, to Oscar and Josephine (nee Jenderezjewski) Halverson.
Henry worked as a chemical engineer for Olin Winchester Company, where he was recognized for his ingenuity and was credited with six patents related to his work. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and his master’s degree from University of Illinois, achievements that laid the foundation for his successful career.
While Henry’s professional life was admirable, it was at home where his true legacy was built. His greatest pride and purpose was his family. He was a caring and devoted father who poured his heart into raising his three children, guiding them with patience, love, and unwavering support. He found joy in the simple, meaningful moments—especially cooking for his family and bringing everyone together. Through his love and example, he raised three successful children who now carry forward his values with families of their own.
A man of deep faith, Henry was a devout Catholic who remained actively involved in his church community. He generously gave his time by volunteering for readings and assisting with audits, always willing to serve wherever he was needed. His faith was a quiet but powerful presence in his life, shaping the way he lived and loved.
Henry is preceded in death by his loving wife, Darla Halverson (nee Halleman); parents, Oscar and Josephine Halverson; brother, Gregory Halverson.
He is survived by his children, Holly (Andrew) Kasnetz, Henry (Jennifer) Halverson, Hope (James) Starr; grandchildren, Tristan Finazzo, Kirsten (Garrett) Starks, Dilyn Halverson, Dara ‘Nina’ Halverson, Hayden Johnson; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Siteman Cancer Center.
