Harold E. Hackney, 84, of Collinsville, IL, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his home in Collinsville, IL.
He was born on May 31, 1942, in Venice, IL, to Clarence and Mary Jane (nee Lahnar) Hackney. In 1967 he married the love of his life, Linda Nelson.
Harold was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country as a Damage Controlman Petty Officer. Following his military service, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including brewing his own beer, camping, and listening to music. Above all else, Harold cherished time spent with his family, who were the center of his world. He will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and the love he shared with those closest to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Jane Hackney; brothers-in-law, Larry Schaefer, Oscar Bunton.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Hackney; children, Elizabeth (Brian Feig) Hackney, Thomas (Tracey) Hackney, Michael (Annissa) Hackney, Alesha (Robert) Pinkerton; grandchildren, Samantha (James) Holloway, Austin (Hannah) Feig, Gabriele Hackney, Finley Hackney, Sylvia Hackney, Kate Hackney, Emma Hackney, Logan Pinkerton, Ean Pinkerton, Bella Pinkerton; great-grandchildren, Jerimiah, Zechariah, Josiah, Dina; sisters, Jean Schaefer, Sherry Bunton; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association.
Visitation: Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, at Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.
