Harold Henry Brownfield was born on April 4, 1927, in Indiana. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp on June 23, 1945, at Fort Sheridan, IL, during World War II. He retired a Lt Colonel in the Air Force as a weather forecaster and became a member of the American Meteorological Society in 1963. Harold graduated from Purdue University with a B.A. in Electrical Engineering.
He is preceded in death by his Father, John Henry “Hank” Brownfield, who died in June of 1965; Mother, Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Wortman) Brownfield, who died on March 9, 1994; Wife, Lorraine Anne (nee Bell) Brownfield, whom he married on April 17, 1948, in Hammond, IN, and died on December 2, 1996.
He is survived by a daughter, Michaelynn (Peg) Brownfield, Collinsville, IL; sons, John Harold (Sharon) Brownfield, Belleville, IL, and Jule Grant (Kathy) Brownfield of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Nicholas John (Jill) Brownfield and Joshua Lee Brownfield, both of Belleville, IL; granddaughters, Sylvia Dawn Brownfield, Chelsey Lynn Brownfield, and Krystal Julie Brownfield of Colorado; great-grandchild, Anna Lynn Brownfield of Belleville, IL.
