Gracie M. Jennings

Gracie M. Jennings, 72, of Pocahontas, IL, died Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Gracie was born July 9, 1942, to Nicholas Clark and Gracie I. (nee Burke) Hughes, in Medora, IL. On November 27, 1959, she married Richard R. Jennings in Detroit, IL.

She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL, for 20 years and was also a Girl Scout & Brownie Leader in Marine, IL, for several years. Gracie worked and later purchased the B & G Market in Marine, IL, for 15 years. She also worked for the S & H Green Stamp Store in Quincy and later became manager.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Jennings, Pocahontas, IL; 1 daughter, Melody (Harold) Whittman, Pocahontas, IL; 1 son, Jeff Jennings, Pocahontas, IL; 3 sisters, Wanda McCarty, Springfield, IL, Margie Smith, Jacksonville, FL, Bernita Rossum, Lake Havasu City, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Bria, Tyler, December, Christopher, Danielle, Jesse, and Ashlee; 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas Clark and Gracie I. Hughes; 4 sisters, Lorna Moore, Mary Pronald, Violet Gowin, Connie Lou Hughes (in infancy); 3 brothers, Carol Hughes, Lowell Hughes, Loren Hughes (in infancy).

Visitation: Friday, August 29, 2014, from 9:00-11:00 am, at the Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.

Memorial Service: Friday, August 29, 2014, 11:00 am, at the Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.

Clergy: Rev Dave Trover, Pastor, United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL.

Interment: Robinson Cemetery, at a later date.
