Gilbert F. Begeman, 90, of Collinsville, IL peacefully passed away on June 15, 2021, at Brooking Park in St. Louis, MO after a brief illness.

He was born June 1, 1931, in St. Louis, MO.  Gilbert grew up in St. Louis and attended Beaumont High School where he enjoyed playing basketball and football.  After graduation, he attended Harris Stowe before joining the Marines, where he proudly served as a Field Radio Operator.  Upon discharge as a Disabled Veteran, He returned to St. Louis, MO and met his wife, Conilee Thompson, whom he married August 25, 1956.  He continued his college education at the University of Missouri (Mizzou), graduating with a degree in forestry.  He then began and finished his thirty-year career as a Chemist, with Monsanto in St. Louis.

Gilbert was known for being a very proud, honest, hardworking, kind, and generous husband, dad, grandpa, great-papa, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law, and friend.  He will be remembered for his strong faith in God.  He was always willing and available to listen and give his thoughts and advice when wanted or needed.  Some of his passions included coaching little league football, crossword puzzles and being an avid fan of watching all sports, especially the Cardinals. He had many stories and much history that he loved to share, all the way to his last day.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Conilee; parents, Gilbert and Mildred (Brennecke) Begeman; sister, Meriel Malone; brothers-in-law, Elmer M. Malone and James Thompson; sister-in-law, Allene (Thompson) Brooks; nieces, Janice (Malone) Stephens and Judy (Brooks) St. Clair.

Gilbert is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Larry) Ramsey; sons Brian (Mary) Begeman and Rick Begeman; grandchildren; Rochelle Reither, Jennifer (Brad) Scott, Jacob (Angie) Begeman, Jessica (Brandon) Hoskins, Melissa (Chris) Atchley, Jordan Begeman, Nicole (Chris) McKinney; great-grandchildren, Connor Begeman, Chase Ruble, Helaina and Brielle Scott, Landon and Lincoln Hoskins, Sunny and June McKinney, Brooklyn and Isla Atchley.

Visitation: Wednesday, June 23, 2021, 9:00 to 10:00am, Good Sheperd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, IL.

Service: Wednesday, June 23, 2021, 10:00am, Good Sheperd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, IL.

Interment: Wednesday, June 23, 2021, 1:00pm, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO
