George A. Bridgewater

George A. Bridgewater, 74, of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

George was born September 23, 1938, to George L. and Ruby Mae (Nee Roach) Bridgewater, in Litchfield, IL.  On July 20, 1957, he married Sharon L. Konopka at 1 ^st United Methodist Church, Gillespie, IL.

George was a longtime member of 1 ^st Congregational Church, Highland, IL, and former member of Diaconate of 1 ^st Congregational Church and a former member of Board of Trustees.  He retired from Union Pacific Railroad after many years.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Bridgewater, Highland, IL; 2 daughters, Tamra (Mark) Wellen, Highland, IL and Kristen (Thomas) Switzer, Highland, IL; 4 grandchildren, Michael Wellen, Ashley Wellen, Jessica Wilson, Brooke Wilson; 1 brother, Charles (Judy) Bridgewater, Dover, OH; also survived by 2 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George L. and Ruby Bridgewater; 1 son, Scott Allen Bridgewater.

Memorials may be made to 1 ^st Congregational Church, Highland, IL, American Heart Association, American Kidney Foundation or American Lung Association.

Visitation: Saturday, September 14, 2013, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at 1 ^st Congregational Church, Highland, IL.

Funeral: Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Church.
