Gaetano “Guy” Battaglia

Gaetano “Guy” Battaglia, 66, of Pocahontas, IL, died Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Guy was born August 6, 1948, to Francesco and Josephine (nee Terracina) Battaglia in Sicily, Italy.  On August 16, 1966, he married Patricia Greer in Gary, IN.

His family was his life.  He had many friends and had a way with getting along with everyone.  He loved to talk and never met a stranger.  Guy loved to fish and hunt deer, squirrel, and pheasant.  He was a truck driver for 40 years, even owning and operating his own truck for about 15 years.  For the past 9 years, he was co-owner of B-Taggs Tavern in Pocahontas, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Battaglia, Pocahontas, IL; children, Frank Battaglia, McHenry, IL, and Brian S. (Francine) Battaglia, Pocahontas, IL; grandchildren, Brian J. Battaglia, Lauren Battaglia, Heather Battaglia, Connor Battaglia, and Tyler Battaglia; a great grandchild, Isaiah; sisters, Marie (Sam) Piraino, Elmwood Park, IL, and Rose (Jerry) Gaudio, Arlington Heights, IL; brother, Joseph (Linda) Battaglia, Elmwood Park, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francesco and Josephine Battaglia.

Memorials may be made to the Family.

Visitation:  Saturday, August 8, 2015, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.

Funeral Service:  Saturday, August 8, 2015, 1200 pm, at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be at a later date.
