Felton E. Schmidt

Felton E. Schmidt, 89, of Highland, IL, died Friday, October 4, 2013, at Relais Bonne Eau, Edwardsville, IL.

Felton was born September 8, 1924, to William and Margaret (Nee Clementz) Schmidt, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.  On December 22, 1948 he married Martha DeForest in Arkansas.

Felton served in World War II, earning a Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars.

He worked as a Superintendant for J J Altmann Construction, Belleville, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Martha “Maurie” Schmidt, Highland, IL; 2 daughters, Lois (Stephen) Benson, Lincoln, NE, Karen Nickerson, Highland, IL; 6 grandchildren, Todd (Jade) Benson, Kelly Benson, Alesha (Rob) Ronat, Alexi (Phil) Marti, Nicole (Chris) Ramsey, Madelynn Nickerson; 6 great-grandchildren, Griffen Haller, Kyleigh Haller, Wayde Quitmeyer, Katelyn Marti, Zachary Ramsey, Braden Ramsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Schmidt; his brother, Leonard Schmidt.

Private Services are scheduled.

Private Interment in Highland City Cemetery.
