Eric J. Simmonds

Eric Simmonds, 55, of Pocahontas, IL, died Sunday, August 2, 2015, at St. Joseph Hospital, Breese, IL.

Eric was born February 6, 1960, to Sherman and Helen (nee Miller) Simmonds at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.

He was a very hard worker and never met a stranger.  He drove a stock car at Highland Speedway for several years and liked to camp and watch NASCAR.

Eric raised sheep the last few years.  He was also the owner of Simmonds landscaping.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Simmonds, Pocahontas, IL; son, Matthew Simmonds, Murfreesboro, TN; stepsons, Scott (Emily Renschen) Timmermann, Chris (Candice) Timmermann, Curtis Timmermann; stepdaughters, Gena Timmermann and Jessica Pacatte; grandson, Landon; brothers, Roger (Vicky) Simmonds, Pocahontas, IL, Paul (Yvonne) Simmonds, Greenville, IL, and Alan (Susan) Simmonds, Pocahontas, IL; aunt, Norma Faye Miller; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Helen Simmonds.

Visitation:  Wednesday, August 5, 2015, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday, August 6, 2015, from 8:00 to 10:00 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.

Funeral Service:  Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 10:00 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.

Interment:  Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, IL.
