Elizabeth Ann Stevens, 92, of West Salem, Illinois passed away peacefully Friday, May 29, 2026 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.
Elizabeth was born on March 26, 1934 in Bone Gap, Illinois, the only child of Earl and Rena (Rude) Ridens. She was a member of the First Christian Church of West Salem, Illinois.
She married Robert Stevens on August 23, 1953 and they had three children – Ronald, Janet and Roger.
She worked for the Auditor’s office from 1961 to 1969 at the state capitol in Springfield, Illinois. When she and Robert moved their family to Olney, Illinois, she worked for Roadmaster and later Champion Laboratories, where she retired from in 1997.
Upon retiring, she and husband Robert, along with their son Roger moved to their home in West Salem, Illinois where Roger currently resides. Together, Elizabeth and Robert owned farms in the West Salem, Illinois area. In her earlier years, she and her best friend Wanda York enjoyed shopping and going out to lunch together. She also enjoyed her trips to Florida to visit her daughter Janet. She enjoyed going out to eat with her son Roger and especially enjoyed HV’s in Olney.
She was a sweet lady and loved her family and friends.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Janet Stevens Porterfield of Fort Myers, Florida and son, Roger E. Stevens of West Salem, Illinois. She has two grandchildren which she loved dearly, Gavin Matthew Stevens of Olney, Illinois and Jasmine (Tyler) Turner of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and oldest son Ronald.
Visitation for Elizabeth Stevens will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in West Salem, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in West Salem, Illinois. Burial will take place at Lick Prairie Cemetery in Wabash County..
