Edith Irene Spurgeon

Edith Irene Spurgeon, 90, of Fairfield, passed from this life to the next on October 15, 2018, at Meadowwood Nursing Home in Grayville.

Edith was born on April 14, 1928 to Clyde and Stella (Hensley) Duncan in Albion, IL. She married Robert Leroy Spurgeon in Crossville, IL. She made Memorial Day funeral flowers. She was a seamstress for Johnny Manufacturing Dress Factory and was a homemaker.

Edith is survived by her four children, Jack Leroy (Linda) Spurgeon of Fairfield, Michael (Lori) Spurgeon of Albion, Martha Marie (Mark Auvil) Hooper of Fairfield, and Barbara Kay Spurgeon of Fairfield; 6 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is a life-long friend, Berniece Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; brothers and sisters, Dale Duncan, Mildred Martin, Francis Duncan, Melvin Duncan, and Albert Duncan.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, from 10 am – 12pm at the Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion. A funeral service will be held at 12 pm at the funeral home following the visition. Burial will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Albion.
