Dorothy M. Niggli

Dorothy M. Niggli (nee Hitz), 91, of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Faith Countryside Nursing Home, Highland, IL.

Dorothy was born February 3, 1924, to Christian and Mathilda (nee Kraus) Hitz in Decks Prairie, Highland, IL. On November 28, 1946, she married Irvin Niggli at Evangelical and Reform Church, Highland, IL.

She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL. She worked as a Secretary for St. Joseph Hospital, EvUCC, Faith Countryside Homes, and Belleville Area College, retiring in 1999. She volunteered at HACSM, St. Joseph Hospital, Faith Countryside, Meals on Wheels, and EvUCC.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and playing euchre and pinochle.

She is survived by her children, Nancy (Ron) Bauer, Frankfort, IL, Neal (special friend, Pat Harper) Niggli, Highland, IL, James (Joan) Niggli, Highland, IL, Connie Niggli Jones, Highland, IL, and Kim (Ken) Mesle, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Bret (Heidi) Bauer, Andrea Bauer, Krislyn (Bradley) Coons, Aaron Niggli, Libby Niggli, Robin (Rob) Enders, Kenneth Mesle, Christiana Mesle, and Morgan Mesle; great-grandchildren, Paige and Kelsey Bauer, Ava Niggli, Averett and Collier Coons; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Mathilda Hitz; husband, Irvin Niggli (May 1975); son-in-law, Bob Jones; grandson, Scott Niggli, brothers, Milton and Harold Hitz; sister, Verna Landolt.
