Dorothy A. Woods

Dorothy A. Woods, 89, of Ellery, IL, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Meadow Brook Nursing Home, Grayville, IL.

She was born April 29, 1932, to Virgil and Rella (Judd) Parks in Golden Gate, IL, On July 7, 1951, she married Donald Woods in Allendale, IL.

Dorothy was a member of Little Prairie Christian Church, Albion, IL where she taught Sunday School for 40 years.  She was a very outgoing, positive person.  Dorothy and her husband showed sheep for many years and started the Country Companies Office in Albion in 1977 and she was one of the first female agents in southeastern Illinois.  She was a seamstress, homemaker, dedicated mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Rella Parks; husband, Donald Woods; brother, Jr.; great-grandchild Keaton Mewes.

Dorothy is survived by children, David Lee Woods, Ellery, IL, Dale Lynn (Susan) Woods, Ellery, IL, Danita (Dennis) Mewes, West Salem, IL; grandchildren; Courtney (Brian) Cashman, Chase (Misti) Mewes, Alex (Sherry) Mewes, Jason (Lauren Moore) Woods, Michele (Trevor) Ward; eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial may be made to the Edwards County Senior Citizens or Little Prairie Cemetery.

Graveside Service Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Little Prairie Cemetery, Albion, IL.

Interment:  Little Prairie Cemetery, Albion, IL.
