Doris M. Rehberger

Doris M. Rehberger, nee Grolle, 90, of Lebanon, IL, born Feb.12, 1923 in New Baden, IL passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar L. Rehberger, whom she married Sept. 23, 1944, at St. George Parish in New Baden, IL, and passed away Dec. 24, 2010; her parents, William and Bertha Grolle, nee Zeigler; her sister Kathryn Ruth Peters, a son-in-law and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

She is survived by 4 daughters: Sue (Tom) Blankenship of  Naperville, IL; Mary (John) Edwards of Hampshire, IL; Carol (Richard Schumacher) Papenberg of O’Fallon, IL; Becky (Johnny Knobeloch) Rehberger of Mascoutah, IL,  and 6 grandchildren: Timothy Blankenship, Kimberly (Thompson-Edwards) Keenon, Bradley Thompson, Jeffrey Papenberg,  Dr. Michael Knobeloch, and Preston Knobeloch, plus 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon, Emerald Mound Grange, Eta Phi Zeta Sorority, and Lebanon Lions Club.  She loved to bowl in her younger years, and was a Girl Scout Leader.  Prior to her marriage, she was a secretary in St. Louis, and then at Pfeffer Mill in Lebanon, where she met Omar.  Doris joined Omar to become part of the fourth generation to continue the Rehberger Family Farm Legacy, raising dairy and beef cattle in addition to grain.

Visitation: Friends may call on Saturday, January 11, 2014, from 9 to 11a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 901 N. Alton St., Lebanon, IL.

Funeral: A Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014, with Msgr. Bill Hitpas and Father Gene Neff officiating.  Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon, IL.
