Donald J. Hitz

Donald J. Hitz, 62, of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at St. Clair Hospital, Fenton, MO.

Don was born May 26, 1954, to Leto John and Velma (nee Tribout) Hitz, in Highland, IL.

He graduated from Highland High School in 1974. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, and the Madison County Farm Bureau. He worked on the family farm with his Dad, then retired from farming and went to work for Jakel Manufacturing and Highland Supply, and most recently worked at McDonalds in Highland.

He liked to fish, bowl, and watch NASCAR, but especially enjoyed being around his family, his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his Sisters, Jeannine Bell, Maryland Heights, MO, Joyce (Paul) Musenbrock, Highland, IL, Marie (Cletus) Henrichs, St. Rose, IL; Nieces and Nephews, Deborah (Robert) Saettele, Carolyn (Craig) Salvato, Jeff Musenbrock, Annette Musenbrock, Sandy (Steve) Zitta, Michael (Lakshmi) Musenbrock, Linda (Brian) Richter, Sharon (Maurice) Wiegmann, Terry (David) Thole, Karen Gudinas, Tammy (Mark) Vogelbacher, Alan Schrage, Tracy (Clay) Szczeblewski.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Leto John and Velma Hitz; Sister, Darlene Schrage; Brothers-in-Law, Richard Schrage, John “Don” Bell.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Education Foundation or for Masses.

Visitation: Saturday, August 20, 2016, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

Memorial Service: Saturday, August 20, 11:00 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

Clergy: Fr. Pat Jakel, Pastor, St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.

Interment: At a Later Date.
