Diana Jo Berger

Diana Jo (Hart) Berger, 79, of Albion, Illinois passed away peacefully to heaven on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Heart to Heart Hospice in Evansville, Indiana.

Diana was born May 4, 1947 in Olney, Illinois to David L. and Dorothy (Timmons) Hart. She attended school in Edwards County. She followed in her parents footsteps in becoming a teacher, earning her teaching degree at University of Southern Indiana and her masters from Eastern Illinois University. She taught in the Edwards County School District for over thirty years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Albion, where she taught Sunday School for years.

In 2012 she was the recipient of a kidney transplant at Indiana University. It was a lifesaving miracle for Diana and her family.

She enjoyed teaching, reading, being with her grandkids, and taking trips. She was a big fan of eating out and enjoyed every bite!

She is survived by her “girls” Dana (Scott) Atteberry and DeeAnn Berger; her grandchildren, Ty (Kenze) Atteberry, Maia Atteberry and Jaden Moore; and someone she was very excited about, a great grand-daughter on the way, Della Jane Atteberry. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Paula Hart; a brother in law, Kevin (Aline) Berger; sister-in-law Dianne Berger; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; cousins; her retired teacher co-workers, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; David and Dorothy Hart; her husband Donald Berger; her in-laws Fred and Peggy Berger; and her beloved brother David Lee Hart.

Memorials in the name of Diana J. Berger can be made to Donate Life America. This organization helped Diana get her kidney transplant. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Visitation for Diana J. Berger will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, with burial following at Graceland Cemetery in Albion, Illinois.
