Charles W. Porter

Charles W. Porter, 86 of Lebanon, Illinois, born April 12, 1920, near Summerfield, Illinois, died Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Cedar Ridge Healthcare Center, Lebanon, IL.

Mr. Porter was a lifelong farmer.  He was a member of the Farm Bureau and was a Lebanon township trustee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta, nee Ohlendorf, Porter, whom he married Dec. 1, 1943, in Belleville, Illinois and who died August 7, 2006; his parents, William A. and Sarah, nee Seitz, Porter.

Surviving are his children, Donna Weil of Trenton, IL; and Charles W. "Bill" (Kathy) Porter of Edwardsville, IL; a granddaughter, Robin (Michael) Stephens of Hamel, IL; two great-grandchildren, Trey and Taryn Stephens; two sisters, Marian Porter of Highland, IL; and Betty (Harold) Blumberg of Marine, IL; a brother, Edwin (Shirley) Porter of St. Jacob, IL; and two nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

VISITATION:  Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, Jan. 16 and from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL.

FUNERAL: Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL with the Rev. Jerry Kizrire officiating.  Interment will be in Keystone Cemetery, St. Jacob, IL.
